This has become my main medium within my practice. I started out exploring textiles and stitching, and then moved on to more embroidery based work, using embroidery hoops and cross stitching techniques. As my practice started to develop more towards the end of second year, I began to make cushions and other soft sculpture pieces, and moved towards 3D pieces. I developed a theme exploring the relationship between the soft and the hard and contrasted harsh facts and text onto soft, gentle objects. From here, I moved towards the workplace as I had been looking at facts on gender discrimination and felt that the workplace isn't featured as much within the arts. I then started to embroider into clothing, using text illustrating my experiences in the workplace as a woman. These are largely work in progress pieces ultimately becoming installation pieces for the degree show.
